Highlights the results of a national survey of child-care licensing requirements conducted by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Public Health Association. Suggestion that critical health and safety regulations in many U.S. states are inadequate, vague or nonexistent; Number of states that have license group day care and license family day care; Safety, sanitation, and nutrition regulations of child-care centers.
