- Abstract
There are a lot of studies which examining the relationship between exports and economic growth for Turkey in literature. However, It has been limited that exports the studies analyzing according to the country/regions and product groups. In this study, primarily the effects on GDP of industrial products, classified with codes 20s labor intensive industry products and with codes 30s relatively more capital intensive products according to ISIC Rev3, have been investigated by establishing regression. In the result of regression, it has been found that an increase in exports of capital-intensive industrial products according to exports of labor-intensive industrial products, to enable greater increase on GDP. Subsequently, that the regression has been established to examine impact of Turkey's exports, classified according to countries/regions, on the economic growth. The result of regression shows that Turkey's exports to the European Union, includes developed countries, has more impact on economic growth rather than Turkey's exports to the Near and Middle East, includes developing countries. Finally, the relationship between Turkey's exports, imports and economic growth has been examined by Granger Causality Test. The result of test shows that there is a bidirectional causality relationship between Turkey's exports and economic growth. According to this result ıt can be interpreted that the growth of exports depends on the growth of import in Turkey.
