- Title
Bag refilling procedure restores accommodation, prevents leakage and PCO.
- Authors
Cimberle, Michela
- Abstract
This article focuses on the bag refilling procedure described by Okihiro Nishi, the Ridley Medal lecturer at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons meeting. According to Nishi, the main problem with the procedure was leakage of the injectable material through the capsular opening. His new technique involved the in-the-bag implantation of a thin diaphragm similar to an intraocular lens (IOL) but with no refractive power to seal the anterior capsulorrhexis. Anterior capsule opacification can be prevented with this technique, he claims.
