The article explores the conventions of two-dimensional art in Old Kingdom in Egypt. It discusses the main function of tomb art which is to provide everything the deceased would need in the next world and to point of contact between the realms of the living and the dead. It provides detailed discussion concerning understanding the underlying symbolism to Egyptian art such as the paintings of Kagemni, as Vizier and son-in-law of Teti and the porters bearing food and leading animals into the tomb.
