- Abstract
Our study found evidence that D. plexippus mortality was increased by a synergy between latex production and trichome density, and between latex and concentrations of toxic cardenolide compounds. For common milkweed, observations of herbivore behavior and plant physiology have led to hypotheses of synergies between latex and trichome density, and between latex and toxic cardenolides.
