- Title
PALEOSUCHUS TRIGONATUS (smooth-fronted caiman).
- Abstract
The article describes the diet and movement of Paleosuchus trigonatus. It is known to prey on terrestrial invertebrates and small vertebrates. During a survey of the crocodilians at the National Forest of Saraca-Taquera in Brazil on May 19, 2010, one female specimen was captured. Its stomach contents include gastrolites and remains of Brotheas paraensis. This indicates that smooth-fronted caiman prey terrestrially in forest leaf-litter and movement across land to preferred feeding resources has been recorded. During the wet season, caiman juveniles were also found on the upper portions of the plateaus.
