- Abstract
The article discusses AISLE, a service-oriented architecture designed to address the shortcomings of the typical environmental management information system. It has two major objectives; the first is to extend the capabilities of existing legacy the information technology systems residing in environmental monitoring centers and institutions, by targeting typical problems that their quality of service, and the second is to provide a loosely coupled, extensible infrastructure for supplying improved information services, including data processing and management, information dissemination, and multiparty data distribution. Further, it performs several services, like data gathering and validation, substitution or estimation of missing measurements and data management and preprocessing.
