- Abstract
This article examines the role of the press in the anarchist and libertarian movements in Argentina from 1890-1930. The author discusses the prevalence of anarchism at the end of the 19th century in the creation of a variety of publications, pamphlets and labor organizations, as well as the subsequent repression of the movement during the second decade of the 20th century. The use of printed materials is described as the backbone of the movement, especially the periodical "La Protesta." A comparison is made between anarchism, which used the press as an instrument to achieve social liberty, and communism, which used the press mainly to instigate agitation in the workplace.
