- Abstract
The article presents case study of a 20-year-old Moroccan woman who has been referred to a haematologist because of chronic haemolytic anaemia with splenomegaly. Topics discussed include diagnosis of a peripheral blood film revealing polychromatophilia, echinocytes and irregular contracted cells with dehydrated cells, diagnosis of hereditary xerocytosis and the role of automated detection of hyperchromic erythrocytes in the detection of the above mentioned condition.
