- Abstract
The article is a review of the book "Histoire du repos" written by Alain Corbin, a French historian specialized in the history of sensibilities. The book explores the conception and evolution of rest throughout history, examining aspects such as eternal rest, the relationship between rest and stillness, and the paradox that humans long for rest but also seek agitation. It also addresses the importance of rest in religion, especially in Judaism and Christianity, and analyzes the relationship between rest and nature, therapy, and work. Throughout the centuries, the concept of rest has evolved and been questioned, adapting to the needs and values of each era.
