- Authors
Jakobsson, Ármann
- Abstract
The article discusses the origin, the premises and the ideological context of the medieval Icelandic short story, and the reasons for its decline and fall. It states that the short stories present as scholarly category believed for most of the 20th century in the saga subgenre form known as the páttr. It mentions that the main characteristic of the pættir concept as a discrete category was the grouping together of Íslendingasögur and Íslendingapættir—.
