The article focuses on a study by J. H. Eggert and colleagues which used a high-energy pulsed laser to shock, compress and heat diamond in order to fill the gaps in the melting line. Researchers explored the melting curve at extraordinary pressures and temperatures. Also in this study, they measured reflectivity of the diamond and was discovered to increase in the melt.
