- Abstract
The article focuses on a double-blind controlled intervention trial which examined the effect of supplementation with milk fortified with calcium with or without vitamin D on regional bone mineral acquisition in Chinese girls. Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry was used to measure regional bone mineral of 757 girls. It was found that the supplemented groups had greater percentage increases in bone mineral density (BMD) of chest, pelvis and legs. Also cited is the benefit of such fortified milk supplementation to Chinese girls.
