POLITICIANS AND THE MEDIA.
- Authors
Kaufman, Gerald
- Abstract
The article examines the role of mass media in providing information on the current interests and works of politicians in Great Britain. In the book "The Rise and Fall of the Political Press," Stephen Koss discusses how political parties have taken control of newspapers and editorial appointments. Issues concerning the D-Notice, a form of voluntary self-censorship by newspapers on security matters advised by the government, were discussed, along with the U.S. Watergate Affair. The author also narrates his experiences with the Parliamentary Labour Party while he was a junior journalist for the "New Statesman."
