- Abstract
This article discusses a case study of a 16-year-old girl with severe aplastic anemia and diabetes who developed mucormycosis, a rare fungal infection. The girl underwent allogeneic stem cell transplantation but experienced complications, including febrile neutropenia and a skin lesion. The fungal infection was identified as Rhizopus arrhizus through DNA sequencing. The patient received surgical excision, antifungal therapy, and vacuum-assisted compression for wound healing. Despite successful treatment, the patient later developed graft versus host disease and other complications, ultimately leading to her death. The case highlights the importance of vigilance in managing fungal infections in patients with underlying conditions.
