- Abstract
The article examines the portrayal of women's mobility and cosmopolitanism in the novels of Anglo-American writer Henry James which include "The Golden Bowl" and "The Portrait of a Lady." Topics covered include James' approach to depicting the abilities of his heroines to appreciate and accept the various cultures that they come across in their travels, his exploration of the idea of female interiority, and his illustration of women who seek for freedom from national and cultural restrictions.
