- Abstract
A literary criticism of the novel "Bartleby the Scrivener" by Herman Melville is presented. Topics included are the psychologically interpretive paradigms constructed by the narrating lawyer in regard to the main character, the ascription of asocial behavior and post-traumatic melancholia by critic Ralph Savarese, and the assumption of exceptions to societal norms by Rosemarie Garland Tomson in the subject.
