- Abstract
The construction scheme for the upgrade of existing railway in central urban area is constantly a key and difficult issue during the decision-making process. In order to comprehensively solve the contradiction between railway construction and urban development, and explore optimal upgrade schemes for existing railways in the central urban area, on the basis of the experiences of 7 different types of existing railways upgradation projects, this paper selected the main factors which determined the construction plan, including amount of land expropriation and demolition, upgradation level of railway capacity, fulfillment of resident demands, composite cost of road & land, overall construction effect by systematically analyzing the relation between railway and city and main problems during operation. In this paper, seven construction schemes including in-situ reconstruction of existing lines, line relocation, yard migration, railway “ underground ”, “ stacked ” reconstruction, “ upper cover ” development and urban reuse of idle lines were summarized, and their applicable conditions and scope were analyzed and interpreted. The results show that, the in situ reconstruction is suitable for adaptive upgradation projects; the route relocation could reduce the fragmentation of the city and improve the technical standard; the relocation scheme is the best solution for large-scale capacity expansion of large station; railways underground could solve the problem that the city is divided due to railway; the “ stacked” transformation of large station could make intensive use of land and avoid large-scale demolition; the “ upper cover ” development of station could realize the purpose of jointing city and making financial profits; the reuse of idle lines can revitalize the stock of assets.
