- Abstract
The article highlights the study conducted by Huei Li Chin on determining whether educational background of the class piano instructors plays a major role in emphasizing repertoire in the U.S. The study shows that 40.1% of the instructors in class piano hold a performance degree while 5.3% hold a music education degree. The study reveals that there is no significant difference in the emphasis of repertoire and technical skills among instructors. The study suggests that instructors must evaluate their technical and performance expectations.
