- Abstract
The article presents a study which investigates whether restricted riparian forest buffers can heighten the in-stream nutrient retention in headwater streams enriched with nutrient in northeastern Austria. Hydrologic retention was computed with the one dimensional transport with inflow and storage (OTIS-P) model based on the conductivity breakthrough curves from injection of salts. The study shows a significant rise in surface transient storage in pristine and repaired riparian forest buffers (RFB) reaches equated with degraded (DEG) reaches because of longitudinal step-pool pattern.
