- Abstract
This document is a summary of a special issue of the journal Foods titled "Marine Algae Bioactives: Isolation, Characterization, and Potential Application." The issue focuses on the use of algal organisms, both microalgae and macroalgae, as sources of health-promoting nutrients and bioactive compounds. The articles in the issue cover topics such as the isolation and characterization of bioactives from different types of algae, extraction protocols for specific compounds, the use of novel technologies for isolation, and the potential application of algal extracts in various fields and industries. The issue also includes two review papers on carotenoids and macroalgal polysaccharides. The authors express gratitude to the contributors and reviewers for their contributions to the issue.
