- Abstract
The feasibility of modifying by beam-plasma treatment the biological activity of substances classified with amino acids and proteins was examined, and a possibility for controlling the modification process by varying treatment conditions was shown. An untreated synthetic alanine derivative did not affect platelet aggregation. After plasma treatment, the modification product of the alanine derivative reduced the platelet activity by more than a factor of 2. The products of modification of a fibrin monomer decreased the platelet aggregation by a factor of 1.5 on average, whereas the untreated fibrin monomer had no effect on the process.
