- Abstract
The purpose of this study was to observe the main source of Whey Protein (WP) indication, consumption prevalence, association with physical exercises, nutritional characteristics and use goals in strength training (ST) practitioners. The survey was conducted with questionnaire collected by the "Google Forms" platform and made available on social media. For research, 106 volunteers who practice ST and consumers of WP participated. The questionnaire applied was divided into three stages related to the voluntaries profile, questions about the practice of ST and the consumption of WP. The results showed that most respondents practice weight training 4-5 times a week for one hour a day with the main objective of gaining muscle mass. About the use of WP, most use concentrate, only on training days with the main objective of increasing the daily amount of protein, but they do not know their real daily need and do not know how to differentiate the types of WP in the market. For indication of consumption, most report having already consulted a nutritionist. SF practitioners in the who use the WP seek to gain muscle mass through increased daily protein consumption, although most of them do not know the amount of protein needed. Although most of the interviewees had already consulted with a nutritionist, consumption without scientific support could be observed. They consume WP only on training days, ingest doses higher than necessary and do not know how to differentiate the types of proteins.
