- Abstract
Currently, the labour market is changing not only the way in which people are been hired and dismissed, but also the opinion that employees have about their job positions, their companies, and their professional careers. This paper proposes the study of the relations between human capital and the company through the affection and disaffection labour strategies. Aims: conceptualise, describe and analyse the affectation and disaffection labour strategies and identify and describe the human talent selection practises and the staff exit that are applied in the big industries of The Campo de Gibraltar. Methodology: investigation within a mix design in two phases, one to each aim; the first phase is carried out through a documentary theoretical review, and a descriptive cross-sectional investigation in the second phase of the study. Development/Results: the recruitment processes, selection, hiring, resignations, retirements, dismissals and staff reductions, were identified, analysed and described in the first phase of the study. In the second one, it was the personnel selection interview the most used tool and it was also the most important in order to take the hiring final decision; while retirements were identified as the main cause of disaffection. Conclusions: human resources are the mainstay that support the functions and objectives of the company, but there are differences between the procedures and selection methods suggested by scientific research and those that are used in practice by professionals.
