- Abstract
The article reports on training received by all specialist registrars in pediatrics in Great Britain. Pediatricians are required to receive training in child protection as part of their core training. A specialist registrar in pediatrics is a dedicated trainee in pediatrics who has completed general professional training and is in the higher specialist training phase. This phase usually lasts for 5 years, during which the trainee must spend at least 6 months in a district general hospital. The article focuses on issues that are key to training for effective child protection such as the quality of assessments and record keeping by medical professionals.
