- Abstract
The article discusses the study which focuses on evaluating the changes in domestic clock design between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries. The author explores the history on the development of domestic clocks and the creation of different designs by clockmakers. It states that domestic clocks were first developed in London, England by European clockmakers during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth century. An illustration on the design of English domestic clocks between 1620-1860 is presented, which focuses on the changes in the dials and clock face, the division of the hour, minute and second, and how time was read.
