Transformationen der Erinnerung: Holocaust und transkulturelles Gedächtnis.
- Authors
Erll, Astrid
- Abstract
This article identifies three transcultural challenges that characterize the current transformation of Holocaust memory in Germany: the legacy of colonialism, the diversification of the mnemonic community, and memories of the Nakba. It asks how concepts of transcultural memory studies can help to approach these challenges. It discusses the theoretical foundations of the ‘transcultural turn’ in collective memory research as well as the concepts of ‘cosmopolitan memory’ (Levy & Sznaider), ‘multidirectional memory’ and ‘the implicated subject’ (Rothberg).
