- Abstract
Social competences are currently regarded as particularly important for doing an apprenticeship. Against this background, this article examines how the behaviour of young people who participate in prevocational training is influenced pedagogically. As such, the findings are presented of an ethnographic study which focusses on the situational addressing of behavioural standards in prevocational training instructions in two different institutions. The article outlines five core dimensions of teaching which accentuate adolescent behaviour in a specific way. Their interplay produces the adolescent form of subjectivation of a ‘ausbildungsreifes Selbst’ (ready-to-be-trained self), i. e., a subject who is properly prepared for training, who is oriented to the institutionally anticipated expectations of potential companies.
