- Abstract
The monograph "The Saxon Nobility at the Universities of Europe" by Fanny Münnich examines the students of the Meissen-Saxon nobility from 1295 to 1600. The biographical data of a total of 1925 individuals are presented in an extensive catalog of persons. The author uses a variety of sources, including unpublished sources and early modern printed works. The study shows that the number of noble students increased significantly in the 16th century, while the inclination towards obtaining a doctorate has decreased since the Reformation. The work also includes a statistical section that deals with the success of medieval noble students in obtaining benefices.
