- Title
Evaluation of Formaldehyde Scavengers.
- Authors
Tomasino, Charles; Taylor II, Maylon B.
- Abstract
Data are presented comparing a variety of chemical compounds as formaldehyde scavengers. Each compound was added to a standardized formulation so as to rank its effectiveness on a consistent scale. Attempts are made to correlate chemical and physical properties of each additive with its ability to influence formaldehyde release. A unique class of activated methylene compounds emerged as the most efficient formaldehyde scavengers of those included in the study.
