- Abstract
Objective: The objective of present work was to enhance the aqueous solubility of poorly soluble drug Norfloxacin using hydrotropic solublization technique and develop its fast dissolving tablets which resulted in enhanced solubility and thus bioavailability of the drug. Methods: The present worker initially prepared six trial batches of fast dissolving tablets from HSD of Norfloxacin by incorporating the chosen superdisintegrant (crospovidone) in combination with subliming agent (camphor). Results :All batches of fast dissolving tablets were evaluated on the basis of pre-compression and post-compression parameters such as bulk density, tap density, hausner's ratio, compressibility index, angle of repose, thickness, diameter, hardness, % friability , weight variation, disintegration time and in-vitro drug release determinations. Conclusion: The present study concluded that a variety of poorly soluble drugs can be designed in desired % clinically viable formulations by using such a novel solublization technique.
