- Abstract
The carbamates are organic substances used mostly like fungicides, which contaminate and have primarily neurotoxic effect on man. The objective of this work was to demonstrate the degree of resistance of two rhizobial isolates to several carbamates. The rhizobia were captured, isolated, purified, characterized and authenticated in Phaseolus vulgaris (plant with wide host rank). One of the rhizobial bacteria (ES1) was isolated from soil treated with carbamates, and the other (EV1) from soil not treated chemically, both coming from Mucuchíes, Merida State, Venezuela. The carbamates were Carbodan, Dithane, Previcur, Vondozeb and Zineb with four concentrations, lower to the applied on field. The capacity of both isolates to metabolize the carbamatos as the only carbon and nitrogen source was evaluated, with negative results. Tests were performed to determine qualitative and quantitative growth of isolates in YMm (yeast extract-mannitol-sucrose) medium in the presence of carbamates, in which ES1 showed greater resistance to Carbodan and Previcur. LD50 for Carbodan and Previcur showed a greater resistance of ES1 as compared to EV1. It was showed that the two rhizobial isolates are capable of cometabolize Previcur and Carbodan in presence of carbon sources, but later a progressive death of EV1 occurred.
