- Authors
DAWSON, JOHN W.
- Abstract
The article presents the Economic Freedom of the World (EFW) Index based on the concept of individual liberty that emphasizes personal choice, private property and freedom of exchange. The five major areas of EFW include the size of government, legal structure and security of property rights. It discusses the literature that emerged since the development of EFW index and the journals where it appeared. It indicates that the EFW index was not cited despite its attempts to reconcile empirical literature relating institutions, geography and trade.
