- Abstract
An essay is presented on the secrets of the motion picture "The Crying Game," by Neil Jordan. The said film reinstated the divisions of racial, national, and sexual identities through a series of performances that culminate the outcry: "I thought you knew.!" It notes that words are important because it exposes the film's other secret, and that is the performance of the phallus which elides the potentially subversive presence of her penis, her performance of woman.
