- Authors

- Abstract
The article discusses the belief of Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges that there is similarity between Irish and Latin American literature. The peripheral position of Ireland with regard to continental Europe is discussed, mentioning Borges' belief that Latin America's peripheral position with regard to North America is similar. Borges' encouragement for Latin American writers to observe and emulate the techniques of Irish writers in recreating traditional Western discourses with a minimal sense of duty or attachment is also discussed.
