- Abstract
The article discusses U.S. politician and Secretary of State Daniel Webster's education at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire. It comments on the career of his father, Ebenezer Webster, a farmer and veteran of the American Revolutionary War. The author reflects on Daniel Webster's time boarding at the Exeter house of Squire Ebenezer Clifford and his relationship with Phillips Exeter principal Benjamin Abbot. The article also notes the backgrounds of other students and discusses Webster's instructors Nicholas Emery and Joseph Buckminster.
