- Abstract
The article discusses optimization of water systems to minimize pollution generation and discharge. It discusses staged systems conceived by others for regeneration and reuse and system concepts including freshwater pinch points. The article documents a method of less complexity that bases water-system design on one regeneration stream. It notes that the method can be combined with those that address reuse only to design regeneration-reuse networks. It explains how the model can be used to resolve flow and pollutant concentrations in the regenerated source.
