- Abstract
An ultra-thin dual-band metamaterial absorber (DMMA) worked in S-band and X-band is proposed by this paper. It is polarization-insensitive to the incident wave and has high absorptivity under the wide incident angle. The proposed DMMA is designed based on a square ring (SR) and a double cross pattern (DCP) structure, and the thickness of the DMMA is merely 0.013 λ min . The calculation results indicate that the proposed DMMA has two absorption peaks at the frequency of 3.80 GHz and 8.63 GHz, and all its absorptivity can reach 99.99%, which is close to perfect absorption. The impedance matching is used to explain the absorption principle of the DMMA, and the electromagnetic resonance is used to reveal the absorbing mechanism. Also, the influence of various polarization angles, incident angles, and structure parameters on the absorption performance are discussed. The satisfactory properties of the DMMA can be applied in the fields of communication, meteorology, electromagnetic shielding, and earth satellites.
