- Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop a high-speed gridding system for geological surfaces to facilitate more accurate geological analyses. We have developed a new gridding system using OpenMP multi-threading technology. The proposed system is designed to generate a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) of a geological surface using a B-spline fitting algorithm. Test calculations to evaluate the system were performed using four types of point data: (1) a small number of equality data, (2) a large number of equality data, (3) a small number of inequality data, and (4) a large number of inequality data. In these tests, we compared computation time for single-thread gridding to that of multi-thread gridding. Results confirmed that the developed system realized high-speed gridding. In addition, the results revealed that gridding parameters affected multi-threading performance. It is expected that the proposed system will improve gridding speed and lead to more accurate subsurface geological analyses.
