- Abstract
The article examines the four ways of the U.S. to acknowledge the legitimacy of the existence of a nation to shed light on its geographical oddisities. It explores the discovery doctrine that adopts the "first-in-time, first-in-right" principle that was embraced by Justice John Marshall. It examines the date and how the nation exists that validly secede from the U.S. It also analyses how the micronation can be formed by conquering a foreign country.
