- Abstract
The article provides information on the investigation conducted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for possible security failure, which resulted to the release of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) virus in Pirbright area in Surrey, England. The inquiry was ordered after an outbreak of the virus was confirmed in the area. The HSE stated that they concentrated on the biosecurity issues surrounding the strain of the FMD virus.
