- Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the failed foot-and-mouth disease control strategies in Great Britain. The analysis includes overestimation of the efficiency of compulsory contiguous premises culling in controlling the spread of infection, inadequate precision within the model to choose an appropriate strategy in new disease outbreak, and vaccinated animals that are not totally resistant despite protection from the disease and can still become infected and can spread the virus.
