In this article the author discusses aspects of football management. He argues that seeking a competitive advantage over rivals is part of modern football since it was invented. He also features the pioneers of football management including Preston North End chairman William Sudell and Herbert Chapman. He also suggests that other managers and clubs adopt strategies used by Sam Allardyce to gain competitive advantage.
