- Abstract
The article reports on the Endocrine Disruptors, a structurally diverse group of compounds that may adversely affect the health of humans, wildlife and fisheries, by interaction with the endocrine system. ED's are estrogenic, affecting the reproductive function. They include chemicals used in industry, such as plasticizers and surfactants, and agriculture, such as polychlorinated biphenyls and organo-chlorine pesticides. Man-made Endocrine Disruptors range across all continents and oceans, and in geographic areas, such as the Mediterranean Sea.
