- Abstract
The article focuses on liabilities of a vessel owner for maintenance, cure and wages of seamen who fall sick under the U.S. maritime law. Topics discussed include history of duties related to the maintenance and cure, remedies available for sailors under the law, the U.S. Supreme Court cases such as the Weeks Marine Inc. v. Garza, the Atlantic Sounding Co. v. Townsend and the Hale v. Maersk Line Ltd. and several case of the U.S. court of appeals including Stermer v. Archer-Daniels-Midland Co.
