- Abstract
The article discusses the relationship between corruption and social trust, or social capital. The role that social trust plays in the tendency for people to cooperate outside of their social groups is discussed. An overview of the relationship between social trust and reciprocity, including in regard to the former's ability to increase the latter between people, is provided. An overview of the role that public institutions play in building social trust, including in regard to government's implementing fair policies, is also provided.
