- Abstract
The article focuses on how the present is read and what counts as the present has a great deal to do with how music is understood and the relationship between music and meaning. Topics discussed include the relation of theory to music that becomes essentially ambivalent, two philosophies who capture this double movement, namely Jean-Francois Lyotard and Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari and their theorization of the "minor."
