- Abstract
In order to recover iron from nickel slag, the authors investigated the effect of a water vapor atmosphere on the oxidation process of nickel slag. The phase constitution and microstructure of the solid products were characterized using x-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy with an energy dispersive spectrometer. The results show that the conversion of fayalite to magnetite can be achieved under a water vapor atmosphere. As the CaO content increases, the iron recovery ratio and grade of the products increase at first and then stabilize. The magnetite in the oxide nickel slag increased, confirming that a water vapor atmosphere was beneficial to the oxidation and recovery of nickel slag.
