- Abstract
This article presents an epilogue. There are eight papers in this special issue, each reporting on features of conversational activities. The authors of these papers made choices regarding how to describe features of the conversational activities, the "phenomena." The analysis of discourse can be approached as it is in this issue, using a framework in which sequences and sequential organization are emphasized. Speech communication is a discipline that houses both basic and applied research. Those who identify with practical concerns direct their attention to helping communicators become more competent, effective, and/or discriminating.
