- Abstract
The article focuses on the author's assumptions regarding kinesics research or the science of body movements and its major areas of concerns. Accordingly, kinesics are like speech which are learned behaviors and dependent on a particular social and cultural systems where an individual was born. It also communicates meaning and influences other members in the communication act and subject to systematic and objective analysis. There are three major areas in kinesics including pre-kinesis which is concerned with physiological aspects of bodily motions, micro-kinesics which is concerned with bodily motions that is analogous to phonemics and social kinesis which is concerned with the role and meanings of bodily motions.
